Celebrating 25 Years.1st Class Kitchens

Dave and Helen Oxley are the owners of the family business, 1st Class Kitchens, and have been providing quality kitchens to Chesterfield since 1995.

As they prepare to celebrate 25 years in business, Helen brings us up-to-date with developments and the latest kitchen technology.

“Today, total integration is the key to effective design,”

“The old, formal house layout of kitchen, separate dining room and formal lounge is becoming outdated,” says Helen. “People today want a central hub in the home, a place where people can come together to eat, live and entertain.

“Often, people start looking at new properties with a view to moving, but it’s very often possible to create the home you want by rearranging the space you have. No need to move, much less hassle.

“It sounds so simple to knock down a wall and create a large family space, but it takes experience to open up the area effectively. You need to think carefully about layout, storage, lighting, appliance etc, all selected to suit your needs and fit your lifestyle.”

“Cupboards and drawers designed for specific purposes, integrated hobs and appliances, single appliances that combine jobs, combi-oven-microwaves, washer dryers etc, all help with the layout, space, finish and look of your new kitchen.”

Taking out a wall might be all that’s needed to create your dream space, and Helen and Dave have a wealth of experience to see the project through from start to completion. Dave explains, “Taking out a wall might need additional support and we are able to install the necessary RSJ to make sure it meets the required building regulations, so you can rest easy that the work is done professionally and safely.”

1st Class Kitchens are supported by a full-time team that can cover all the services needed. We’ve mentioned design and building regulations but also on the list are plumbing, drainage, electrical, lighting, gas, ventilation, plastering, carpentry, painting, decor, tiling and flooring. They really can take care of every detail, so all you need to do is sit down with Dave at the start to get the plan and design spot on, choose your style of units, finishes, work tops and appliances and look forward to the completed installation.

“Island kitchens offer huge possibilities to free up space and maximise every inch of the new kitchen, plus make a great place to meet and socialise whilst food prep takes place. All you need to cook can be stored within easy reach, and it really does create a new central hub to the house.”
