Chesterfield's booming festival scene
“Last year’s festival had fantastic support with over 8,000 people attending over the weekend. We aim to keep growing this event by offering more and more choice of traders as well as activities to entertain every age group and to top it off it’s all free entry to everyone”. Laura, Edge Events.
Edge Events are a company passionate in delivering festivals which bring communities together through their shared love of food, drink and music! Two of these events take place in Chesterfield every Summer and I for one couldn't be any happier about this. Building on its success in 2018, the Street Food and Grooves Festival is back for a consecutive year. The festival is set to be filled with delicacies from around the globe, vegan treats, artisan beverages and of course, the best bands our town has to offer! As part of the event the New Market Place will be open with traders selling a plethora of sensations for the pallet including crepes, olives, and preserves, it would be rude not to indulge!

Kicking off on Friday the 10th May and not finishing until Sunday the 12th, with FREE ENTRY, we may all need to buy some bigger pants on the Monday!
You’ll find me stuffing my face with some fantastic street food in one hand and a craft beer in the other, on the front row at the ‘soundbytes stage’ pretending I’ve still got it!
Chesterfield Food & Drink Festival makes a welcome return and is shaping up to be the event of the summer. Kicking off on Friday 2nd August at 7pm, head over to Queens Park for another full weekend of music, craft beer, artisan gin, prosecco and of course the most wonderful selection of food from around the world!
This year sees the innovative introduction of the ‘demo kitchen’. It is a platform for our talented local chefs to showcase their skills, demonstrating creative ways to cook fabulous dishes in front of a live audience! With ample seating space, be sure to pull up a chair in the sunshine and don’t forget your sun tan lotion! Not only will there be our very best home-grown talent on show, the superstar chef Lesley Waters will be taking to the demo kitchen on the Sunday followed by a meet and greet with us, the public, very cool!
Whilst you are basking in the British sunshine with a craft beer and some jerk chicken the kids will be thrilled to have their faces painted, to board the play bus, view the outdoor cinema and watch a variety of live acts on stage. This really is a festival for all the family.
Ashgate Hospice will also be on site spreading the word about the wonderful work they do and how you can get involved.
If you see a 40 year old tiger sat on a deck chair enjoying a craft beer, say hi, because it’s probably me!
