Brampton Potteries Festival
13 and 14 July
Word: Chris Townsend
The Brampton Potteries Festival on Old Road began in 2008. The intention was to create an opportunity to bring the community together whilst paying tribute to Brampton’s long history of potteries. This year’s festival runs 13/14 July.
The theme for 2019 is ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. For those who have not taken part before, all you need to do is to decide on a suitable creature or creatures, make your display from flower pots (plastic ones are accepted), in combination with other materials including flowers, plants and shrubs, and then place your creation outside the front of the house.
The Mayor and Mayoress will tour the displays but there is no judging - it is purely for fun and entertainment! You don’t need any special talent - just enjoy yourselves!
Events include (see our What's On section for more details) the Mayor opening the event on Saturday 13 July at midday, a Summer Fayre from 12:30 to 2:30pm with Ploughmans Lunches, homemade cakes etc at The Gospel Mission Church with Afternoon Teas from 2:30pm.
Then on Sunday 14 July the displays are available for all to see from 10am to 4pm, with light refreshments at the church in the afternoon. At 11am - Potteries Festival Thanksgiving Service at The Gospel Mission Church and The Big Picnic takes place at 12:30pm on the church drive.
