Plastic Free Champions

Plastic Free Chesterfield is working hard with local businesses to discourage use of single-use plastics.

Their 'Plastic Free Champions' awards are given out to businesses who take action to remove single-use plastics from their business such as drinking straws, takeaway cutlery, packaging, bottles, plastic bags etc.

To date, Greg Hewitt, from Plastic Free Chesterfield, has presented awards to 26 local businesses. We've listed the businesses below, so please try and give them your support where you can.

Astra Designs UK, Bottle & Thyme, Brim Chippy, Chesterfield Market Cafe, Deli-ish, Elsie Moss Botanical, Fox and Stitch, Fredericks of Chesterfield, The Green Bobbin, Harriet & Lola's Candles, Lotty Lollipop, Masons Coffee House, Monkey Park, No 10 The Tea Room, The Urban Kitchen at Olympia House Antiques & Craft Centre, Pebble Moon Crafts, Ropers Honey, Shop Indie, Sorbo Lounge, Steph's Sustainable Stuff, Thyme to Eat cafe, Tuckins, Urban Flamingo, Urban Jars, Waste Not Want Not and Willow Springs Pet & Play Centre

If your business would like to support Plastic Free Chesterfield and receive a plastic-free award, please email Greg (plasticfreechesterfield@gmail.com).

Create Change

Friday 24th January 6 to 9pm

Clare Gage, local businesswomen and Fellow of the Royal Society of Art has been leading Create Change Chesterfield. For the first event of 2020, Clare has organised an evening of inspiration for creating change in our world.

We will be joined by Alex Barker from Be More Pirate who will inspire us with a talk on the radical ideas we can learn from pirates...are we ready to start rewriting some rules?

We’ll also be joined by local folk band Jig For A Kiss who will be providing the music to entertain us as we bring our evening to a close.

Throughout the evening we will be reaching out to hear YOUR ideas on future Create Change Chesterfield events. There will also be opportunities to connect with local community groups who are involved in action throughout our town.

This is a family-friendly event with food and drink provided, so join us for your tea and stay to get inspired for action in 2020! This is a free event, open to everyone.

6 to 9pm at the Assembly Rooms

Top Floor of the Market Hall, Chesterfield.
