The Reyt Big Busk to raise funds for a Better Park for Brampton

Words & Images: Friends of Monkey Park Group

Would you like to see a better park in Brampton? The Friends of Monkey Park (FoMP) are a new community group actively fundraising to improve facilities in Chester Street park.

Kelly Sheldon, the creative talent behind S40 Locals' cartoons, design guru from 13 Bends Design, singer and, perhaps most importantly, a local mum, has been in touch to raise the profile of the group and talk a little about her Reyt Big Busk fund-raising event.

"WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT" she outlines.

"Please help us raise £5,000 so we can apply for a grant for £50,000 for new play equipment for the local children.

"It’s easy to donate and every penny counts, simply visit the Just Giving page below or contact us.

"If you’d like to get involved and help deliver the project, again, please get in touch. Any help and ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

"Your donation could help make an old and unloved park usable again! The project will help local families get much needed access to green space and a safe play area.

"Since launching in March, we have installed three benches, built a bench with planters, and worked with Don Catchment Rivers Trust on a litter pick and river clean.

"We are working hard to create a better space for the community and will be installing a picnic bench near the river over the summer months."

In addition to being an active member of the FoMP, Kelly is also the driving force behind a great event planned on 13 July 2019.

The day will see a large number of local musicians come together to perform and help raise funds for the play area.

"This is the first time I've ever organised anything like this, so it's great to think we'll be raising money by performing and simply doing what we love.

"I just hope as many folk come and have a listen and chuck a few £'s in the tubs", says Kelly.

Details of the event are shown opposite, and should you wish to donate links are as below or to find out more, contact Kevin Walker, who's managing the project via social media.
